Brazil utility operators launch campaigns to regularize telecommunications wiring

Municipalities and utility companies in Brazil are conducting operations to regularize telecommunications wiring on utility poles to improve public safety and urban organization.

In Apucarana, a joint effort involving Copel, the local government, and eight telecommunications operators resulted in the removal of over 500 kilograms of scrap and unused cables from central streets. Officials aim to establish a permanent schedule to address main thoroughfares gradually. Similar efforts are being coordinated in Faxinal and Videira to remove inactive wires that hinder maintenance and create visual pollution.

In Londrina, a multi-stage operation is targeting the Saul Elkind Avenue, involving hundreds of poles to standardize installations and reduce risks for pedestrians and motorcyclists. These actions follow reports of hazards caused by loose or hanging wires, which have caused accidents and inconveniences in cities like Rio de Janeiro and Niterói.
