Telecommunications cabling regularization in Vale do Ivaí

Copel and various telecommunications operators initiated a joint task force to regularize cabling in the Vale do Ivaí region, specifically targeting Apucarana and Faxinal. The operation aims to remove irregular, unused, or non-compliant structures to ensure technical compliance and public safety.

In Apucarana, the operation focuses on reorganizing utility pole wiring to eliminate loose or fallen wires that pose risks to pedestrians and drivers. Nilton Fornaciari Júnior, president of the Institute of Development, Research, and Planning of Apucarana (Idepplan), noted that the action is a cooperative effort between the municipality, Copel, and telecom companies. The initiative includes a process where companies are notified and provided a 30-day period to rectify irregularities before cleanup efforts proceed under Copel supervision.

Recent operations in Apucarana involving Copel, the local government, and eight telecommunications operators resulted in the removal of more than 500 kilograms of scrap and unused cables from central streets. Officials intend to establish a permanent schedule to address main thoroughfares gradually. Similar coordination is occurring in Faxinal and Videira to remove inactive wires that cause visual pollution and hinder maintenance.

In Londrina, a multi-stage operation is targeting Saul Elkind Avenue, involving hundreds of poles to standardize installations and reduce risks for pedestrians and motorcyclists. These regional actions follow reports of hazards caused by loose or hanging wires, which have also caused accidents and inconveniences in cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Niterói.
