Forecasts call for maximum temperatures of 37‑38 °C in Satu Mare and 39‑40 °C in Bihor and Arad, with the temperature‑humidity index (ITU) exceeding the critical value of 80 and tropical night minima of 19‑25 °C.

At the same time ANM placed eight additional counties – Timiș, Hunedoara, Alba, Mureș, Cluj, Sălaj, Bistrița‑Năsăud and Maramureș – under an orange canicula alert, expecting 35‑38 °C and ITU > 80, with night minima of 20‑24 °C. A yellow alert covers much of the rest of the country, with temperatures of 33‑37 °C, ITU near the critical threshold and tropical nights of 18‑22 °C.

Authorities have issued health and safety advice: the water utility Aquatim urged residents to limit non‑essential use of potable water, while the Romanian Patriarchate asked churches to provide water, shade and shelter for vulnerable people. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) recommended avoiding intense outdoor activity during the hottest hours, staying hydrated and protecting children, the elderly and those with chronic conditions.
