Araçatuba overtakes Rio Preto to lead 68th São Paulo Regional Games

Araçatuba assumed the overall lead in the 68th Jogos Regionais of the 4th Sports Region of São Paulo after its delegation reached 121 points, surpassing São José do Rio Preto's 112 points. The municipality’s handball men’s team secured its 22nd regional title, extending a three‑year championship streak and bolstering the point total.

Atibaia earned its first medals early in the competition, winning silver in both the men's and women's Sub‑21 tennis events on July 17. The city added four gold, two silver and one bronze in taekwondo on July 18, finishing first in the male classification and third overall for women. On July 19, the girls’ basketball team claimed bronze, bringing Atibaia to 52 points and ninth place in the partial standings among 46 participating municipalities.
