Arab League appoints Egyptian Nabil Fahmy as new secretary‑general

The Arab League announced that Egyptian diplomat Nabil Fahmy will take over as secretary‑general on 1 July, succeeding Ahmed Abulgueit after a ten‑year tenure marked by internal divisions and regional wars. Fahmy, a career diplomat, has been given a five‑year mandate to lead the 22‑member organization.
