Arab League chief Nabil Fahmi urges President Trump to restrain Israeli actions

Arab League Secretary‑General Nabil Fahmi warned that the Middle East is approaching a "point of severe danger" and could reach a "moment of explosion" because of the stalled Palestinian issue and rising tensions in the Gulf. He called on U.S. President Donald Trump to fulfil the responsibilities of his administration by curbing Israel’s settlement expansion, stopping repeated violations in Jerusalem and the West Bank, and ensuring the peace plan launched in October is fully implemented.

Fahmi highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that about two million Palestinians live in deteriorating tents amid disease and hunger. He also urged the United States to press Israel to halt policies that could lead to de‑facto annexation of the West Bank. In parallel, Fahmi warned against recent Iranian‑aligned Houthi attacks that threaten Gulf maritime security and called for the swift reopening of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al‑Mandab.

The Arab League chief stressed that all regional actors share responsibility for maintaining security and stability, and he appealed for a return to diplomatic negotiations based on respect for international law.
