Arab League commemorates victims of Palestinian genocide
The League of Arab States, through its Palestine and Occupied Arab Lands sector and the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine, held a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. This marks the first time the anniversary is being observed at the League's headquarters in Cairo.
The commemoration follows a decision made during the 166th ministerial session of the Arab League to designate October 17 as an annual day to honor victims and pursue legal action against perpetrators at national, regional, and international levels.
During the event, officials highlighted the humanitarian catastrophe, noting that since October 2023, casualties in Gaza have exceeded 74,000, including more than 21,000 children. Ambassador Fayed Mustafa warned against forced displacement and called for the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel. Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklook emphasized the need to move from condemnations to practical measures, including sanctions and pursuing accountability through international courts.
