Arab Parliament calls for accountability for Palestinian victims
The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has called for the accountability of those responsible for crimes committed against the Palestinian people, stating that the rights of the martyrs do not expire. Speaking at an event held at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo, Al Yamahi commemorated the victims of the genocide committed by Israeli authorities.
During the event, the Arab Parliament announced its support for a proposal to designate October 17 of each year as a day to remember and memorialize the victims. This date marks the anniversary of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital massacre in Gaza City on October 17, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of over 700 Palestinians within 24 hours.
Al Yamahi referenced a September 16, 2025, report by the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry regarding genocide in the Gaza Strip. He urged the United Nations and the international community to cooperate with investigative mechanisms, protect witnesses, and ensure international investigators have unhindered access to relevant sites to uphold the 1948 Genocide Convention.
