Araban begins pistachio harvest season

The pistachio harvest has officially commenced in the Araban district of Gaziantep. The start of the season was marked by a collection and promotion program organized by Hasan Altun, President of the Araban Chamber of Agriculture and Garlic Producers Union.

Local officials, including Araban District Governor Ferhat Salih Ceylan, attended the event to support local farmers. Ceylan expressed commitment to increasing the promotion and global interest in Araban pistachios in future years.

The region maintains a deep agricultural heritage, with pistachio cultivation spanning over a thousand years. Some trees in the area are estimated to be between 500 and 600 years old. Currently, approximately 120,000 decares of pistachio orchards are active in the rural areas of Araban, contributing significantly to the regional and national economy.
