Arad to modernize Mihai Eminescu Park with 2.8 million euro investment
Mihai Eminescu Park in Arad, Romania, will undergo an extensive modernization project valued at 2.8 million euros. The funding includes a 1.4 million euro non-reimbursable grant provided by the West Regional Development Agency through the West Regional Program 2021-2027.
The project aims to increase green and permeable surfaces from 68% to approximately 90% of the park's total area. Key improvements include the planting of 88 new trees to enhance biodiversity and urban environmental quality. Infrastructure upgrades will feature refurbished pedestrian paths, new urban furniture, decorative lighting, Wi-Fi access, a video surveillance system, an automated toilet, and a fountain.
Additional amenities will include a dedicated space for dogs and improved accessibility for all visitors. This initiative is part of a broader green infrastructure plan for Arad, intended to connect the park with other recreational zones, such as the Mureș riverbanks between Europa Park and Decebal Bridge.
