Arantepacua Protest Blocks Morelia Road, Assaults State Secretary

Communal members from Arantepacua staged a protest in front of Casa Michoacán in Morelia, Michoacán. During the demonstration they set fire to a tire, seized an LP‑gas cylinder and a Civil Guard patrol, and blocked the main road, prompting the closure of the Libramiento de Morelia and causing heavy traffic disruptions.

Police responded with tear‑gas agents to disperse the crowd. While attempting to open dialogue, State Interior Secretary Ricardo Palominos Vargas was physically assaulted – kicked and struck with a stone. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla later affirmed the administration’s willingness to continue talks and said that more than 418 million pesos have already been allocated to projects for the Arantepacua community.
