Várzea Grande rolls out sanitation, road and education initiatives ahead of 2027 budget

The municipality of Várzea Grande is undertaking a series of public‑service actions as it prepares for the 2027 municipal budget. A public hearing on 12 August will update the Municipal Sanitation Plan, inviting residents to suggest improvements to water supply, sewage, solid‑waste handling and urban drainage.

On 7 August municipal crews carried out cleaning, maintenance and mobility work in several neighborhoods, including tree pruning, trash removal, sidewalk painting and drainage upkeep. The same day, the city's road‑works department performed pothole repairs, resurfacing of unpaved streets and drainage maintenance on key avenues and districts.

The municipal education department completed the 2026 school census, recording 37,774 enrolled students – a 7.3 % increase over two years – and began strategic planning for the 2027 school year. In parallel, the city issued a call for temporary teachers and early‑childhood staff, inviting candidates who passed a 2025 selection process to fill positions across its schools.
