Archbishop Apostolos Installed as New Head of Canada's Orthodox Church

Archbishop Apostolos, formerly Metropolitan of New Iren, was elected by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as the new Archbishop of Canada, succeeding the retired Archbishop Sotirios. His enthronement is set for 19 September 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Nicholas Cathedral, Toronto, Ontario. In preparation, he appointed Archpriest Fotios Tsami as ecclesiastical commissioner and Archpriest Evangelos Sotiroppoulos as chair of the enthronement committee. Archbishop Elpidoforos of America publicly congratulated Apostolos, wishing a fruitful and long‑lasting ministry for the benefit of the faithful. The new archbishop also thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his guidance and called on clergy and laity to support the appointed officials.
