Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally begins week-long Ghana and Cameroon tour

Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally arrived in Ghana on July 25 to start a 10‑day pastoral visit to the Church of the Province of West Africa, her first trip to the continent since taking office in March 2026. During the tour she will worship with Anglican congregations, meet church and community leaders, and engage with ecumenical and interfaith groups.

Key events include a service at St Joseph the Worker Anglican Church in Accra, laying a foundation stone for a USPG‑funded pilgrimage hostel at the Anglican Heritage Culture Village, and commissioning a new clinic at St Monica’s Nursing and Midwifery Training College named in her honour. Mullally will also meet President John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House, the British High Commissioner, and His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of the Ashanti, at Manhyia Palace. The itinerary continues with a visit to Cape Coast Castle and, subsequently, a stop in Cameroon to meet Bishop Dibo Thomas‑Babyngton Elango and local clergy.
