Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher to visit Moscow for diplomatic talks
Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, is scheduled to visit Moscow from August 24 to 28. This marks the first visit by the Vatican's top diplomat to Russia since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
During the four-day trip, Gallagher is set to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on August 25. Discussions are expected to cover the state of relations between the Holy See and Russia, cooperation within international organizations, and various global issues of mutual interest. He is also scheduled to preside over a Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Moscow on August 27. This mission follows a recent visit by the Archbishop to Ukraine in July.
