Archdiocese of Madrid suppresses Hijas del Amor Misericordioso amid abuse allegations
The Archdiocese of Madrid has officially suppressed the public association Hijas del Amor Misericordioso (HAM). The decision follows a recommendation from the Tribunal of the Rota issued in May 2025 after it examined accusations of sexual abuse, abuse of conscience and power, and sectarian practices directed at the community’s leader, María Milagrosa Pérez Caballero (known as Marimí).
The archbishop had previously placed HAM under commissariat on 28 July 2025, removing Marimí from governance and appointing an external commissioner. After twelve months of intervention, the archdiocese concluded that the association could not guarantee its viability or meet the conditions necessary for continued operation, leading to its formal suppression.
