Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro holds 126th annual pilgrimage to Aparecida
The Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro is conducting its 126th annual Archdiocesan pilgrimage to the National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida in São Paulo. The event, themed ‘With Mary, missionaries of peace and unity!’, involves 299 parishes and is expected to draw approximately 50,000 participants from Rio de Janeiro.
Cardinal Orani João Tempesta, the Archbishop of Rio, will preside over the ‘O Rio Celebra’ Holy Mass. The scheduled activities in Aparecida include the Rosary Prayer, a procession to Morro do Cruzeiro, and the Stations of the Cross. This year’s pilgrimage also commemorates the 95th anniversary of the proclamation of Our Lady of Aparecida as the patroness of Brazil.
