Archer and AEG to build Los Angeles vertiport at L.A. LIVE

Archer Aviation and AEG have announced a multi-year partnership to develop a vertiport at L.A. LIVE, a sports and entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles. This project would establish the first planned vertiport in the downtown area, serving as a key node in Archer’s expanding Los Angeles air taxi network ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The facility is intended to support Archer’s Midnight aircraft, an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle designed for short urban trips. The company aims to reduce travel times across the city from over an hour on the ground to approximately 10 to 20 minutes in the air. The Midnight aircraft is designed to be quieter than traditional helicopters and produces zero operating emissions.

Archer and AEG have completed an initial feasibility study covering land use, airspace, power availability, and community impact. The companies are now moving into a second phase to review operational approaches and the guest experience. While a specific construction timeline or opening date has not been disclosed, the project is being developed with the LA28 Games in mind, as Archer is the official air taxi provider for the event and Team USA.
