Archetyp Market operator charged in Germany

German prosecutors in Frankfurt have filed charges against a 31-year-old German national suspected of being the founder and administrator of the darknet marketplaceArchetyp Market’. The platform was shut down in June 2025 as part of ‘Operation Deepsentinel’.

At the time of its closure, Archetyp Market was reportedly the world's largest trading platform for narcotics, including cannabis, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, fentanyl, and crack, as well as various medicines and new psychoactive substances. Between November 2022 and its shutdown, the site processed approximately 2.3 million orders, generating an estimated turnover of 330 million euros.

The marketplace hosted over 600,000 customer accounts, 17,000 sales listings, and more than 3,000 professional sellers. The accused is alleged to have provided and maintained the technical infrastructure for these illegal transactions. Payments were conducted using the cryptocurrency Monero via a platform escrow system, from which the accused allegedly earned a five percent commission on sales.
