Architectural developments in Mavrovo and Sarajevo

Architects Besnik Jakupi and Rinora Durmiši from Gostivar have won an international competition to design a new grandstand near a tennis court in Mavrovo. Organized by the association MELEEM in collaboration with Mavrovo Open, the project aims to create a space for 20 to 40 spectators that serves as a meeting point for the local community. The winning design features a compact metal structure with three tiered rows and individual seats with rectangular backrests, utilizing a folding mechanism.

In a separate architectural development, the symposium ‘City Perspectives – Contemporary Approach to Urbanism’ was held in Sarajevo as part of the ‘Diaspona’ event. The symposium brought together international architects to discuss spatial planning, heritage protection, and the necessity of citizen participation in urban development. Experts emphasized the importance of integrating professional knowledge with local needs to create authentic and functional urban environments.
