Architecture Day festival focuses on housing theme

The 16th annual Architecture Day festival will take place from October 1 to October 7, featuring nearly 500 events across more than 100 towns and municipalities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Under the theme ‘I live, therefore I am,’ this year’s program focuses on housing as a fundamental societal issue.

The festival includes guided tours, lectures, debates, and workshops designed to explore the evolution of living spaces. Participants will examine various forms of housing, ranging from historical tenement houses, villas, and worker colonies to socialist-era housing estates and modern residential projects. The program also aims to address contemporary challenges such as housing affordability, urban landscape transformations, and the quality of public spaces.

Specific regional highlights include events in South Bohemia, such as Vimperk, where the architectural legacy of the Steinbrener printing family will be showcased. The festival also features a film series titled ‘Film and Architecture’ and includes contributions from various experts and speakers.
