Arcigay Pride events in Italy confront wave of online homophobic insults
The Rimini Summer Pride, organized by Arcigay, attracted around 25,000 participants but was met with a flood of homophobic insults on social media. Arcigay Rimini president Marco Tonti said the backlash shows the continued need for public demonstrations for equal rights and pledged that the organization would not be deterred.
In the same period, Arcigay and partner groups announced the upcoming Cremona Pride scheduled for May 30, inviting the public to join a parade and celebration of LGBT visibility. The event is promoted as part of a broader effort to advance LGBTQ+ rights throughout Italy.
