ARD to shut down three Schlager radio stations
The ARD public broadcasting network is phasing out its dedicated Schlager radio stations. BR Schlager is scheduled to cease broadcasting on November 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM. NDR Schlager will follow, ending its program on December 31, 2026, at midnight.
MDR Schlagerwelt will continue to broadcast through the end of 2026, but will no longer be available via traditional antenna starting January 1, 2027. The MDR is leading the development of a new joint Schlager livestream titled ‘ARD Schlagerwelt,’ though its launch depends on approval from the MDR Broadcasting Council.
To access Schlager content moving forward, listeners are encouraged to use the ARD Sounds audio library via apps or smart speakers.
