Arequipa Avenue bus lane receives 90% user support

A survey conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications through the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) shows that 90% of users on Arequipa Avenue support the implementation of a bidirectional bus lane. The survey, which included 1,152 citizens such as commuters, cyclists, and pedestrians, indicates that the pilot program has improved transit order and reduced congestion.

Data from the pilot program shows significant travel time reductions. In the evaluated 1.5-kilometer stretch between 9 de Diciembre Avenue and Emilio Fernández Street, travel times during evening peak hours decreased from 19 minutes to 9 minutes. Most respondents reported perceiving less congestion and better mobility conditions following the reorganization.
