Arequipa police vehicle procurement faces delays
A report from the Contraloría General de la República has revealed delays in the acquisition of patrol vehicles intended for 58 police stations in the Arequipa region of Peru.
The procurement process, managed through the Regional Government of Arequipa, has faced multiple setbacks. After two previous selection processes were declared void in 2025, a third call was approved in November 2025. Maquinarias S.A. was eventually awarded the contract for approximately S/ 18.1 million, though the adjudication occurred later than the original schedule.
The project, executed under the 'Works for Taxes' modality, aims to provide vehicles for various types of police stations and an emergency unit in the Mariano Melgar district. However, current findings indicate that the delivery timelines are no longer aligned with the initial contractual programming.
