Argentina advances road paving projects in San Juan and Chascomús

The government of San Juan province has begun work on paving Provincial Route 116, known locally as Calle Mendoza Vieja. The 5.3‑kilometre stretch between National Routes 40 and 153 will be upgraded from a dirt road to an asphalt surface, with drainage works and a concrete hump at the junction near Route 153. The project, financed by the province, aims to improve connectivity for residents, producers and transporters in the Sarmiento department and to support local economic activity.

In the Chascomús district of Buenos Aires province, municipal teams have carried out maintenance and rehabilitation on several rural roads, including routes to Cuatro Esquinas, El Solito, Giribone and areas behind Villa del Sur. Work involved removing material from road shoulders, profiling and building embankments. The efforts were overseen by Mayor Javier Gastón and Public Works Secretary Lucas Funes, who also consulted with local schools and residents. Drivers have been warned to exercise caution and to avoid heavy vehicles on the repaired sections for up to 72 hours after rain until conditions improve.
