Argentina advances water infrastructure projects in La Rioja and Santa Fe

The provincial government of La Rioja has begun work on a second filtration gallery on the Santo Domingo River near Famatina. The first phase, completed earlier, increased water flow to the distribution network by 50 %. The new phase involves trenching and installing PVC and polyethylene pipes, along with a multilayer filter bed of stone, gravel and sand, to further improve potable water supply after recent storms.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Santa Fe has issued Public Tender No. 09/2026 for a 120‑day project to control erosion and stabilize the lateral slope of Dique II at Puerto de Santa Fe. The work, budgeted at roughly 430 million Argentine pesos, will reinforce the main storm‑water drain that serves the city’s central basin by filling eroded zones, installing geotextiles, concrete blocks and vegetation cover, and protecting the structure from future water damage.
