Argentina and Chile boost technical education with industry and trade partnerships

In Argentina, the Provincial Education Council (CPE), the Fundación Banco Santa Cruz and the National Institute of Technological Education (INET) carried out a territorial diagnostic of technical schools in the Santa Cruz province. Visits to the Industrial School No. 10 in Caleta Olivia, Industrial School No. 11 in Perito Moreno and the Industrial School in Energy Processes (EIPE) in Río Gallegos assessed infrastructure, equipment and training needs, forming the basis for an integrated programme to modernise the basic cycle of technical schools, upgrade teacher training, introduce new technologies and link education directly to the regional productive sector.

In Chile, the Subsecretaría de Relaciones Económicas Internacionales (SUBREI) and the Red Futuro Técnico organised a workshop for teachers of technical‑professional secondary schools at the Liceo Matilde Brandau in Valparaíso. The session introduced the workings of Chilean foreign trade, customs procedures, trade agreements and the role of public agencies, aiming to bring international commercial policy into the classroom and strengthen the link between technical education and the country’s globalised economy.
