Argentina and Colombia municipalities launch new water treatment plants

The municipality of Villa Carlos Paz (Córdoba, Argentina) announced the construction of a new potable‑water plant in the city's north, a project costing over 650 million Argentine pesos. The facility will use a state‑of‑the‑art ring‑filter system capable of processing up to 210 m³ of water per hour and will draw water from the Los Chorrillos River in addition to the existing Cuesta Blanca plant. Officials said the plant should be operational before the start of the summer tourism season and will improve supply for neighborhoods such as Villa del Lago and Villa San Miguel.

In Tota, Colombia, the local government inaugurated a modernised water‑treatment plant serving more than 550 users. The $600 million investment included optimization of existing equipment, construction of a new storage tank and a comprehensive overhaul after two decades without major upgrades. Mayor Diana Riaño emphasized that the works were carried out without significant service interruptions, ensuring continuous water provision for residents and local businesses.
