Argentina and Ecuador advance early childhood development strategies

Regional governments in Argentina and Ecuador are advancing strategic initiatives focused on early childhood development and welfare.

In Argentina, Governor Rogelio Frigerio and UNICEF reviewed progress made in 2026 regarding the province's early childhood strategy. The administration has identified three priority vectors for upcoming years: education and care, support for highly vulnerable families, and immunization programs. The initiative involves interministerial cooperation between health, human development, and economic sectors.

In Ecuador, Minister of Labor and Human Development Cynthia Gellert presented the National Early Childhood Plan in New York during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week. The plan, which targets children from gestation to age six, involves a projected investment of approximately USD 4.3 billion through 2030. The strategy focuses on five main pillars: health, nutrition, receptive care, early learning, and protection/security, supported by governance and institutional strengthening. UNICEF estimates the program could benefit over 1.5 million children.
