Social and economic development in Argentina and Ecuador
Overview
Argentina and Ecuador continue to implement social and economic development programs focused on labor training, agriculture, and early childhood welfare.
In Argentina, the Dirección de Empleo is supporting young professionals through their first work experiences. In San Miguel de Tucumán, participants in a labor training program at Catalina Boutique are developing practical skills in customer service and commercial operations to strengthen their professional profiles. Additionally, provincial strategies continue to focus on early childhood development through integrated health, education, and immunization efforts for vulnerable families.
In Ecuador, the government is advancing agricultural and nutritional initiatives. The Ministry of Economic and Productive Development has launched a recruitment process for the Integral Project for Agro-productive Diversification and Agricultural Reconversion (PIDARA), seeking analysts for the Loreto and Orellana districts.
Regarding child welfare, the government is progressing with the “Territorios de Bienestar” project to combat chronic childhood malnutrition. Through the Vice Presidency, this initiative coordinates the public sector, private companies, and civil society to promote healthy eating habits, particularly during the critical first 1,000 days of life. Utilizing “Ollas Comunitarias” (community kitchens), the program provides nutritional training to pregnant women and caregivers using local ingredients. This initiative has reached over 5,000 beneficiaries through maternal-infant brigades across seven provinces, including Pichincha, Napo, Carchi, Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Chimborazo, and Bolívar.
These efforts complement the National Early Childhood Plan, which targets children from gestation to age six with a projected investment of USD 4.3 billion through 2030. Separately, Ecuador has solidified its position as the world’s third-largest flower exporter, with natural flower exports reaching USD 651 million between January and July 2026.
