Argentina and Peru launch same‑day ID and passport services
Municipal authorities in Córdoba, Argentina, are running a mobile operation that brings civil‑registry services directly to neighbourhoods. Residents can obtain new national identity documents (DNI), replace lost or stolen cards, register births, marriages and deaths, and access gender‑change and pregnancy‑care programmes at designated community centres on scheduled dates.
In Peru, the National Superintendency of Migration has begun offering same‑day electronic passports without prior appointments in Lima and Callao. Applicants present a payment receipt and a valid DNI to receive their passport on the spot, reducing queues that previously handled an average of 1,500 daily requests.
