Argentina and Peru residents push for opening of blocked local bridges

In the Sagrado Corazón neighborhood of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, provincial road authorities rebuilt a bridge over the El Pucú stream, but the crossing remains blocked behind drums and an excavator. Residents, who have been using the route daily, say the works are finished and they have waited months for an official inauguration, demanding that the bridge be opened immediately.

Meanwhile, in the California Baja sector of Lurigancho‑Chosica, Lima region, Peru, families regularly cross the river on rocks, exposing children, elders and workers to danger, especially during the rainy season. With the nearest pedestrian bridge two kilometres away, locals have petitioned national and regional governments for a new footbridge to prevent isolation and accidents.

Both communities are pressing authorities to complete or start infrastructure projects that will restore safe, reliable mobility for hundreds of daily commuters.
