Argentina and Bolivia announce August 2026 long‑weekend holidays
Argentina’s official 2026 calendar designates Monday 17 August as a transferred holiday commemorating the Paso a la Inmortalidad del General José de San Martín, creating a three‑day weekend from 15 to 17 August. Subsequent national holidays will generate additional long weekends on 12 October (Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural), 23 November (Día de la Soberanía Nacional) and a four‑day stretch from 5 to 8 December surrounding the Immaculate Conception and a tourist day.
Bolivia’s decree adds a four‑day holiday in August, extending the Independence celebration from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 August 2026. The measure aims to stimulate domestic tourism and related sectors. Remaining national holidays for 2026 include 2 November (All Souls’ Day) and 25 December (Christmas), with additional commemorative dates such as 27 September (Día de la Integración Boliviana). Both governments view the extended breaks as opportunities to boost internal travel and economic activity.
