Argentina announces citizenship by investment program
The Argentine government has announced the implementation of a citizenship by investment program, detailing specific requirements for foreign nationals. The program offers two primary pathways for applicants: a direct, non-reimbursable contribution of US$350,000 to the National Treasury, or the subscription of a specific US$800,000 public bond created for this purpose.
Applications are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. This initiative follows regulatory changes made to the Citizenship Law in 2025, which enabled citizenship requests based on “relevant investment” regardless of the applicant's length of residency.
Prospective citizens will not receive immediate nationality upon payment. The Agency of Citizenship by Investment Programs will oversee a rigorous evaluation process, including checks on identity, criminal records, financial status, origin of funds, and migratory history, before Migrations issues a final resolution.
