Pope Leo XIV to visit South America, including Argentina and Peru

Pope Leo XIV will undertake his first apostolic journey to South America from November 6 to November 17, visiting Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. The itinerary includes stops in Montevideo, Paysandú, and Florida in Uruguay, before moving to Argentina.

In Argentina, the Pope will visit Buenos Aires, Claypole, Córdoba, and Luján between November 8 and November 11. To accommodate the visit, the Argentine government has declared Monday, November 9, a national holiday. Additionally, Tuesday, November 10, and Wednesday, November 11, will be jurisdictional holidays in the specific cities on the papal itinerary, including Córdoba and Luján.

Security officials describe the planned operation as the largest in Argentine history, with an estimated total attendance of seven million people across all mass events. In Peru, officials expect at least 1.2 million attendees for a mass at the Las Palmas airbase in Lima on November 16.
