Argentina anticipates historic visit from Pope Leo XIV
There is significant anticipation in Argentina regarding the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV. Father Mauro Carlorosi, a priest from the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri in Córdoba, noted that there is an “enormous expectation” for the trip among both clergy and laity.
The Pope is currently recovering from lung cancer surgery performed on October 13, which has resulted in his schedule being suspended until October 20. Despite this, religious groups are engaging in daily prayers for his health and pontificate.
Father Carlorosi highlighted that the visit is expected to be historic, particularly in Córdoba, which serves as a central hub for the country’s Catholic population. He noted that while Argentina faces political polarization and an upcoming election year, the Pope’s intention is to conduct a pastoral visit to strengthen the faith of the Argentine people.
