Argentina executes $6.61 trillion debt auction and advances energy projects

Argentina's Ministry of Economy has successfully executed a debt auction, adjudicating $6.61 trillion in pesos and dollars. The operation achieved a 136.14% rollover of scheduled maturities, with the Treasury receiving $6.61 trillion against $4.85 trillion in upcoming obligations. The auction attracted $9.49 trillion in offers, and approximately 60% of the funds were allocated to long-term titles maturing in 2028 and 2029, extending the debt profile beyond 2027.

In the energy sector, Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) is negotiating a $1.4 billion syndicated loan involving major banks such as JP Morgan, Santander, and Citi. This financing is intended for the NGL Project in the Vaca Muerta basin, a $3 billion initiative designed to process non-conventional gas and export liquids from Bahía Blanca. The project is expected to generate $1.2 billion in annual exports starting in 2030.

Additionally, the Argentine government has approved loans from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) totaling up to $1.3 billion. These funds are earmarked for two primary purposes: modernizing the national and subnational public administration through a $300 million program, and supporting energy subsidies for vulnerable households via a $500 million program to ensure fiscal sustainability and social protection.
