Argentina authorizes ownership transfer of 428 MW Olavittía wind park

Argentina’s Secretariat of Energy approved a third change of ownership for the Olavittía wind park, a 428.4 MW renewable generation project in the Buenos Aires province. The transfer moves the title from GEAR I S.A. to the dedicated subsidiary GEAR PEO, following verification by CAMMESA that technical requirements were met. The park was first authorized for the wholesale electricity market in October 2024 and had its initial ownership change in February 2025.

Separately, PCR and ArcelorMittal Acindar inaugurated a $40 million expansion of the Ezeiza 500 kV transformer station, increasing transmission capacity along the Comahue‑Buenos Aires corridor and enabling the integration of additional renewable generation. The upgrade, which can supply electricity to roughly 600,000 homes, is the first phase of a $275 million program that also includes expanding the Olavittía substation, building a 185.6 MW wind farm, and constructing a 25‑km line to the national interconnection system. The project is slated for full operation by January 2027 and is expected to create about 350 construction jobs.
