Argentina banks to close for five consecutive days in November

Banks across Argentina will observe a five-day closure in November, affecting in-person services and financial operations. The shutdown begins on Friday, November 6, for Bank Workers' Day, continues through the weekend of November 7 and 8, and extends into the following week due to the official visit of Pope Leo XIV.

On Tuesday, November 10, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) has designated a non-working day for all financial entities via Communication 'A' 8487. This period will also halt activity in the foreign exchange market, meaning official and wholesale dollar rates will not be quoted, and over-the-counter dollar purchases will be unavailable.

While physical branches will be closed, customers can still access digital services, including home banking, electronic wallets, and ATMs. Separately, labor representatives have noted that the banking sector is currently navigating a complex period characterized by branch closures and voluntary staff reductions.
