Argentina boosts wastewater treatment with new plant in Colón and road to GIRSU facility

The municipality of Santa Fe completed more than two kilometres of paved road to the GIRSU waste‑treatment plant, securing permanent access for collection, separation and transport of residues even during heavy rains. Mayor Natalia Sanchez thanked the provincial government and Senator Esteban Motta, saying, “Se trata de una gran obra y queremos agradecer al Gobierno de Santa Fe y al apoyo constante del senador Esteban Motta.”

In Entre Ríos, provincial officials signed a contract worth 19.268.797.171 Argentine pesos to design and build a new wastewater‑treatment plant for the city of Colón. The project, overseen by the Provincial Executive Unit (UEP) and the joint venture GINSA SA – José Eleuterio Pitón SA, will include a pumping station, a treatment plant south of the city and a final discharge to the Uruguay River. Participants highlighted its importance: “Una obra de muchísima importancia” noted Secretary General Mauricio Colello. The 38‑month effort is part of a broader program to improve sanitation across the Uruguay River basin, aiming to reduce environmental impact and enhance public health.
