Argentina ramps up water and sanitation infrastructure projects
The municipality of Tolhuin completed a major overhaul of Kooshten Street, adding environmental sanitation, storm‑water works, curb strips and paving to improve traffic flow and neighbourhood livability. Resident Adriana Sosa welcomed the work, urging community members to help beautify the area.
In Tucumán, Sociedad Aguas del Tucumán (SAT) carried out the "Ciudad Seca" operation, cleaning and desobstructing main sewage arteries in the Victoria and Ciudadela Sur districts. SAT president Marcelo Caponio highlighted the effort’s coordination with Governor Osvaldo Jaldo and noted the opening of two new wells to boost water supply.
The Ente Descentralizado de Obras Sanitarias (EDOS) announced a city‑wide inspection starting 22 June to locate household water losses that discharge into storm drains. Property owners will receive a notice and, if not repaired within 72 hours, risk a total water cut.
Sameep engineers repaired a 500 mm pipe burst in the Fontana aqueduct at the intersection of Av. Belgrano and Larreta in Resistencia, restoring water service gradually. President Nicolás Diez and Services manager Maximiliano San Martín praised the crews’ rapid response and their commitment to uninterrupted water provision.
