Argentina Catholic Church holds community missions in Chacabuco and Concordia
In Chacabuco, Archbishop Jorge Eduardo Scheinig led the 2026 Mission of the Clergy, bringing more than 30 priests, deacons and bishops from the Archdiocese of Mercedes‑Luján to the parish of the Santos Arcángeles. The three‑day visit included pastoral visits, community meetings and religious celebrations aimed at strengthening the bond between the Church and local families.
In Concordia, the Frente Entrerriano Federal met with Bishop Gustavo Gabriel Zurbriggen of the Diocese of Concordia. The dialogue addressed pressing social problems such as drug trafficking, school dropout, precarious labor conditions, digital gambling and the anticipated rise of the Uruguay River caused by the El Niño phenomenon. Both sides emphasized coordinated action between the state, civil society and the Church to support vulnerable residents.
