Argentina commemorates Eva Perón's 74th death anniversary
On Sunday, 26 July, the city of La Plata hosted a public ceremony to mark the 74th anniversary of Eva Perón’s death. The event, organised by provincial authorities and the Permanent Commission for Homages to Eva Perón, was led by Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof and La Plata Mayor Julio Alak. It took place in Plaza Moreno and featured speeches from political leaders, representatives of social organisations, union groups and community figures.
In the northern province of Formosa, a small gathering of residents assembled near the Eva Perón bust at the 25 May square. Attendees carried flowers and recalled her legacy while also referencing contemporary social issues such as rising poverty and political debates surrounding President Javier Milei’s policies. Both events underscored the enduring symbolic role of Perón in Argentine public life.
