Argentina: Communication shift sparks tension between Caputo and Oría

A shift in the Argentine government's communication strategy has triggered internal friction between Santiago Caputo and filmmaker Santiago Oría. Following indications that Oría is assuming control of digital communication under the influence of Karina Milei, Santiago Caputo has seen a reduction in his previous influence over the administration's messaging apparatus.

Caputo expressed his dissatisfaction on social media, posting a message in English stating, “Only me sentaré aquí en un horror silencioso y veré cómo se desarrolla el desastre exactamente como predije.” In response, Oría asserted his long-standing loyalty to President Javier Milei, sharing a photo from a 2020 film shoot to emphasize his presence in the movement prior to Caputo's involvement during the 2023 campaign.

Analysts suggest this transition marks a move away from the communication style established by Caputo, often referred to as the “Kremlin Magician,” toward a model led by Oría, who has previously produced documentaries and campaign materials for La Libertad Avanza. The reorganization follows a period where Caputo had already seen his influence diminished in other strategic areas, such as ARCA and SIDE.
