Argentina economic outlook: Dollar purchases and wage disparities

Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo reported during an international investor presentation that citizens purchase an average of 1.7 billion dollars per month. Caputo suggested this consistent flow of capital would prevent a currency run during pre-electoral periods, though analysts have questioned the official statistics and the underlying balance of the Central Bank.

Regarding domestic consumption, economist Mariano Gorodisch noted that while the government expects inflation deceleration to drive a recovery in consumption, the outlook remains uneven. Projections suggest real wages may outpace inflation by 3.5 percent, primarily benefiting private sector employees. However, public sector wages continue to lag, and informal workers earn approximately half of what registered workers receive.
