Latin American institutions integrate AI into education and industry
Educational institutions and governments across Latin America are increasingly addressing the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching, learning, and professional sectors.
In Mexico, legislative proposals aim to incorporate AI literacy into the Mexico City Education Law to ensure students use tools ethically and critically. Similarly, UNAM in Mexico hosted EvaluaFEST 2026 to discuss using AI for academic evaluation without replacing teacher judgment.
In Chile, the University of Talca held seminars to train educators on pedagogical AI use, while the University of Concepción hosted workshops on data readiness for AI. In the Los Ríos region, experts analyzed AI applications in the forestry and agricultural sectors to optimize veterinary and farming processes.
In Argentina, training programs in Chaco have reached thousands of professionals in literacy and AI, and Córdoba has launched initiatives to maintain classroom dialogue amidst technological shifts. In the Dominican Republic, discussions focus on whether students possess the necessary critical thinking skills to use AI without becoming overly dependent on it.
