Argentina: Energy law push and political expansion
In Corrientes, Senator Carlos Espínola announced plans to push for a ruling on the 'cold zone' law next week. The project, supported by Governor Juan Pablo Valdés, seeks to provide energy cost compensation for northern provinces due to high electricity prices.
Espínola noted that while the initiative aims to benefit northern regions, it may face resistance from sectors currently receiving subsidies. He emphasized the need for provincial unity to defend local interests against the national government.
Separately, Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof is expanding his national political presence. He has called for the first Federal Plenary of the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF), scheduled for September 19 at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional in Avellaneda. The event aims to build a federal alternative for Argentina through various debate tables.
