Argentina expands animal welfare with rescue network and new municipal veterinary hospital

Independent rescuers Paula Guzzetti and Maximiliano Braulio Belén have built a network that has saved more than 100 abandoned dogs and cats in Llavallol and surrounding areas of Lomas de Zamora. Their work includes veterinary care, neutering, rehabilitation and long‑term foster homes, but high treatment costs have forced them to rely on raffles, donations and personal debt.

The municipal government of Córdoba reports that construction of a new Veterinary Hospital of Urgencies in the San Vicente neighbourhood is 75% complete. The 24‑hour facility will share a site with a new Castration Center and will include consult rooms, laboratories, operating theatres and separate wards for dogs and cats, aiming to meet rising demand for emergency animal care and public‑health related population control.
