Argentina faces attacks and accidents targeting emergency and utility workers

In the Tigre district of Buenos Aires Province, members of the local emergency health system were assaulted while preparing for a sanitary guard on the delta. A taxi boat operator responded to a warning to slow down with verbal abuse and then boarded the vessel, physically attacking the workers. The municipal government condemned the incident and announced legal proceedings to identify and sanction the perpetrators.

In Salta Province's Rivadavia Banda Sur, two operatives of the water utility Aguas del Norte died from toxic gas exposure while working inside a confined sewer chamber. A third worker survived with serious injuries. Autopsies confirmed hydrogen sulfide poisoning. Prosecutors have charged four company officials with involuntary homicide and serious injuries for failing to provide protective equipment, training, and safety protocols.

Both incidents have prompted authorities to pursue legal action and underscore ongoing concerns about occupational safety for emergency and utility personnel in Argentina.
